The French is a super solid and easy to learn opening. The three branches are Exchange, Advanced, and Blackburne. From my experience teaching the French for years, is you will love the Advanced French the most. In the beginning you're going to get the most exchange frenches. Get good at endgames is my best recommendation. You can learn the opening fast and well. Get to 1400 and I recommend the Sicilian.
